Morgan Ryan grew up in upstate New York in a family of writers before earning a theatre performance degree from Northeastern University. Now based in Chicago, she seamlessly transitioned from acting to writing. Her debut novel, A Resistance of Witches, launching in July 2025, blends her lifelong fascination with magic and meticulous historical research. Set during WWII, the novel follows a young witch enlisted in the Royal Academy to locate a powerful magical book before it falls into Nazi hands. With its richly woven world, emotional depth, and spirited heroine, the book has already drawn praise as “historical fantasy at its absolute best.” Ryan’s passion for magical storytelling, attention to period detail, and love of folklore make her a standout new voice in the historical fantasy genre.
