Kelly Link

State: Massachusetts

Kelly Link is an award-winning author celebrated for her genre-blurring short fiction that blends fantasy, supernatural, and literary elements. A MacArthur Fellow, her collections—Get in Trouble, Magic for Beginners, and White Cat, Black Dog—have reshaped speculative fiction with playful surrealism and emotional resonance. She co-founded Small Beer Press and runs an independent bookstore in Massachusetts, but spent formative years in Vermont, where she wrote much of her early work. Her stories frequently feature uncanny, fairy-tale-like twists set in ordinary environments. With her atmospheric storytelling and active engagement with the fantasy and literary communities, Link remains one of the most influential voices in modern fantasy-adjacent fiction.
