Brian Staveley is an epic fantasy novelist and former educator based in Vermont. With an MA in Creative Writing from Boston University, he worked as a teacher and editor before turning to fiction full-time. His debut trilogy, The Emperor’s Blades, followed by The Providence of Fire and The Last Mortal Bond, builds an intricate tale of empire, familial bonds, and conspiracy. The series earned the Gemmell Morningstar Award and critical praise for its richly constructed world and deep philosophical underpinnings. He later expanded his universe with prequels and sequels, continuing to explore themes of power, faith, and duty. When he’s not writing, Staveley can be found trail running, splitting wood, or chasing his young son around their Vermont home.
